News from Nashville - The Sixties Turn 50

We attended a thought-provoking panel about Mid-Century Modernism appreciation and advocacy. Preservationists from Chicago, San Francisco and Los Angeles entertained us with case studies and a 13-point advocacy program that highlighted issues such as "the Bunny Rabbit Problem" (prolific Modernist construction can dilute significance arguments) and "the Frankenstein Dilemma" (some Modernist master architects are still living, which complicates nominations).

A representative from the Los Angeles Conservancy also detailed the fight to save the Century Plaza Hotel and described the Conservancy's "The Sixties Turn 50" program (lac.laconservancy.org/site/PageServer?pagename=60sHomePage).

All in all, a very informative and enjoyable session.
