Painting Preservation

Historic preservation activities come in many shapes and forms. One of the more creative approaches to preservation we've seen comes from the Niagara Frontier Plein Air Painters.

As described in this Buffalo Rising article (www.buffalorising.com/2011/03/tuesday-paint-out-event-to-draw-attention-to-at-risk-blacksmith-shop.html):

"The group is dedicated to fostering the outdoor painting experience by providing congenial outdoor painting opportunities . . . this year, [group member Sarah Zak] presented them with the idea of painting sites in need of preservation.

It is [the group's] goal to bring positive attention to these buildings; not only is it an opportunity to paint together, but also an opportunity to promote the well-being of these historically significant and beautiful buildings and their communities."

Their first preservation event is Tuesday, March 29, 2011, at 9:30 AM at the Old Blacksmith Shop on the corner of South Park Avenue and Illinois Street.
