Two New York State Firms form Collaborative, The Preservation Exchange

Two New York State Firms form  Collaborative, The Preservation Exchange

June 26, 2013 - Buffalo, NY-- Preservation Studios LLC (PSLLC), of Buffalo, NY, and TKS Historic Resources, Inc. (TKS), of Babylon, NY, have announced the formation of a unique historic preservation consulting collaborative known as the Preservation Exchange.

The affiliation of these two-firms creates a unique opportunity to offer complimenting services. TKS brings nearly 30 years of experience in historic preservation services, including numerous reconnaissance- and intensive-level historic resource surveys for municipalities.  PSLLC has over a decade of experience in the historic tax credit field, including dozens of Historic Preservation Certification Applications, and both firms have extensive experience crafting nominations to the National Register of Historic Places for districts and individual listings.

"We are excited about the possibilities that The Exchange represents for us and our clients in terms of expanded services and knowledge,” said Karen Kennedy, Co-Founder and Principal at TKS. “Having worked primarily in the metropolitan tri-state area, this collaboration will allow TKS to branch out into new markets in the northeast."

The collaboration comes at an important time for Preservation Studios, as it pursues expansions into the central and eastern New York and the western Pennsylvania markets.  “We know and love Buffalo,” said Jason Yots, President and CEO, “and our expansion efforts are focused on communities with a similar sense of place and authenticity. The Preservation Exchange allows us to offer a broader range of services as we extend out of Western New York.”

Since 2002, Preservation Studios has assisted developers and municipalities with historic tax credit projects and other historic preservation initiatives.  For more information, please visit www.preservationstudios.com.

Founded in 2003, TKS Historic Resources, Inc. is run by architectural historians Sarah Bean Apmann and Karen Kennedy, both principals of the firm.  The company is a certified WBE in New York City and New York State and both Sarah and Karen have credentials that meet 36 CFR Part 61 Historic Preservation Qualification Standards.  For more information please visit www.tkshistoric.com.
